What welding sets are needed when buying a new welder?
Every welder, in addition to the welder itself, needs a complete set of welding accessories that serve various roles – from protective to operational in the welding process. These accessories are essential in the welding process, which is a key method of joining materials in various industrial sectors such as automotive, aerospace, construction, and shipbuilding. Some welding accessories will be useful only in one welding method – MMA, MIG/MAG, and TIG. Each of these methods requires appropriately selected welding accessories that will affect the quality of work.
Choosing the right accessories
Choosing the right welding accessories is crucial for a safe and effective welding process. To know what equipment to choose, one must consider the welding method and select appropriate accessories such as a shielding gas cylinder, welding wire, gas and current nozzles, protective gloves, and welding helmets. Each of these elements plays an important role in the welding process, affecting the quality and safety of work.
TIG welding accessories
For TIG welding, in addition to the welder, we will need shielding gas, a regulator, as well as a complete set of accessories for the torch: caps, collets, current connectors, ceramic nozzles, insulators, tungsten electrodes, and toolboxes – these are essential parts for what is known as equipping the TIG torch. It is also important to select the appropriate material for welding to maintain anti-corrosive properties and protect the welds from rust.
Additionally, gas lenses are also used, which provide better protection for the weld pool, resulting in a much nicer appearance of the weld. When welding different groups of materials, the use of lenses is even recommended.
MIG/MAG welding sets
For MIG welding, it is naturally also essential to have the appropriate welding wire – depending on whether we are welding with a gas cylinder, it will be copper-coated or non-copper GMAW wire; if we are welding outdoors without using a cylinder, it will be necessary to use self-shielding wire, also known as core or flux-cored wire.
In MIG/MAG welding, aluminum is often used, which requires appropriate knowledge and tools to achieve durable connections. The welding gun, appropriate current tips, gas nozzles (in the case of GMAW welding), the spring of the current connector, or the appropriate wire feeder body for the spool – depending on the size of the wire spool we want to use, there are mounts that handle 0.5 kilograms, 1 kilogram, 5 kilograms, up to even 15 and 18-kilogram spools.
When choosing products in the welding shop Fachowiec, it is worth paying attention to their compatibility with the equipment used and meeting the requirements of the welding process. This ensures safe and effective work, as well as high quality of the welds performed.
